Plaque formation can be controlled either chemically or mechanically. Chemical plaque removal suffers lots of disadvantages like chemical agent can't penetrate the biofilm or the amount of agent which has penetrated is very less to kill bacteria present and also long term use of chemical plaque control agents can lead to staining of teeth.
